Description A rare and well-preserved specimen of Lytoceras fossil ammonite, excavated from the renowned Green Ammonite Beds of the Lower Lias at Golden Cap, Seatown, part of the world-famous Jurassic Coast in Dorset, UK. This particular fossil was discovered by our expert fossil team members Alister and Alison on 03 May 2025, and has been expertly cleaned, prepped, and treated by Alison. Lytoceras is a genus within the family Lytoceratidae, known for its evolute coiling, smooth flanks, and highly complex suture patterns. Unlike many contemporaneous ammonites, Lytoceras often lacks prominent ribbing, instead displaying a sleek shell structure with intricate internal architecture.
